Terms of Service

Effective May 1, 2026 · Last updated May 1, 2026

In short: Be kind, be honest, and don’t break the law. Don’t scam, harass, or impersonate others. Donations are processed by Stripe — we never see your card. We don’t sell your data or run third-party ads. Either of us can end this agreement at any time.

This summary is for convenience only — the full Terms below are what apply.

1. Agreement to these Terms

Welcome to GoodAct. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and GoodAct (“GoodAct,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and govern your access to and use of our website, mobile experiences (including our Android app distributed through the Google Play Store), and related services (together, the “Services”).

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using the Services, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

If you are using the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” refers to that organization.

2. Eligibility and your account

  • Minimum age. You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher minimum age required by your country, to use GoodAct. By creating an account you confirm you meet this requirement.
  • Accurate information. Provide accurate, current information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
  • One account per person unless we expressly allow otherwise (for example, an organization page operated alongside a personal account).
  • Account security. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Use a strong, unique password and tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
  • No transfer. You may not sell, rent, or transfer your account to anyone else.

3. Your content

GoodAct lets you create posts, comments, reactions, stories, RSVPs, messages, profiles, and other content (together, “Your Content”).

  • You keep ownership. You retain all rights you already have in Your Content. We do not claim ownership of it.
  • License you grant us. You grant GoodAct a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify (for example to resize images), create derivative works (for example previews), distribute, and display Your Content solely to operate, provide, and improve the Services and to enable the visibility settings you have chosen. This license ends when you or we delete the content, except for backup copies retained for a reasonable period and copies others may have shared or saved before deletion.
  • Your responsibilities. You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not violate these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or anyone else’s rights.
  • Feedback. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.

4. Acceptable use and Community Guidelines

GoodAct is a community for kindness, causes, volunteering, and fundraising. To keep it safe and welcoming, you agree not to do any of the following, and not to help anyone else do them:

  • post content that is illegal, fraudulent, deceptive, or that violates someone else’s rights;
  • post hate speech, harassment, threats, bullying, doxxing, or content that promotes violence or self-harm;
  • post sexually explicit content, content that sexualizes minors, or other content prohibited by Google Play’s Developer Program Policies;
  • run scams, fake fundraisers, deceptive donation requests, or misrepresent who is collecting funds or what they are for;
  • impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone;
  • spam, send bulk unsolicited messages, or use the Services to distribute malware, phishing, or unauthorized advertising;
  • scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Services, or use bots or automated systems to access them, except for tools we explicitly permit (such as well-behaved search-engine crawlers);
  • interfere with the Services, attempt to bypass rate limits or security controls, or probe for vulnerabilities outside an authorized disclosure;
  • use the Services to develop or train any AI or machine-learning model;
  • sell, resell, or commercialize the Services or any access to them without our written permission.

We may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or terminate accounts that break these rules, with or without notice depending on the severity.

5. Donations and payments

GoodAct lets people donate to causes and recipients on the platform. Please read this section carefully before donating or receiving donations.

  • Payment processing. Donations are processed by Stripe. Your card details are entered directly into Stripe’s PCI-compliant systems and are never sent to or stored by GoodAct. Your use of Stripe is also subject to Stripe’s terms.
  • Authorization. When you confirm a donation, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your selected payment method for the amount and currency shown on the confirmation screen, including any disclosed fees.
  • No tax-deductibility guarantee. Donations made through GoodAct are not automatically tax-deductible. Tax treatment depends on the recipient’s status and your local laws. Consult a tax professional if you need certainty before donating.
  • Refunds. Donations are generally final. We may issue a refund where required by law, where a donation is fraudulent or duplicated, where the recipient was misrepresented, or where Stripe reverses the charge. Contact us as soon as possible if you believe a refund is warranted.
  • Chargebacks. Initiating a chargeback for a legitimate donation may result in suspension of your account while we investigate.
  • For recipients of donations. If you accept donations, you must accurately describe the cause, use funds for the stated purpose, comply with all applicable laws (including charitable solicitation, tax, and anti-money-laundering laws), complete any verification we require, and respond to disputes in good faith. You are solely responsible for delivering on what you promise to donors.
  • Fees. Stripe processing fees and any platform fees we charge are disclosed at the time of donation. We may change fees by updating these Terms or our published fee schedule.
  • Currency and conversion. Where currency conversion applies, the rate and fee shown at checkout (or by Stripe or your card issuer) will apply.

6. Events

GoodAct lets people create and RSVP to volunteer and community events.

  • Organizers are responsible for the accuracy of event details, the safety of attendees, and compliance with local laws (including any required permits, insurance, or safeguarding measures for minors).
  • Attendees participate at their own risk. GoodAct does not run, supervise, insure, or vet events.
  • We may remove events that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe are unsafe, fraudulent, or misleading.

7. Messages and communications

By using the Services you agree to receive operational communications from us, such as sign-in links, donation receipts, event reminders, security alerts, and changes to these Terms. You can manage non-essential emails from Settings or by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

Direct messages between users are intended for personal communication. Do not use them for spam, harassment, or unsolicited commercial messaging.

8. GoodAct intellectual property

The Services, including our software, design, logos, brand, and the compilation of content we provide, are owned by GoodAct or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services in accordance with these Terms. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You may not use our name, logo, or branding without our written permission.

10. Third-party services and links

The Services may link to, or interoperate with, third-party services (such as Stripe for payments, sign-in providers, and external websites). Those services are provided by third parties and are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for them and including a link is not an endorsement.

11. Google Play and mobile app terms

The GoodAct Android app is distributed through the Google Play Store. In addition to these Terms:

  • your use of the app is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service;
  • you must comply with Google Play’s policies in any content you post through the app, including its rules on child safety, hate speech, harassment, deceptive behavior, and sensitive events;
  • we may release updates through Google Play. We may stop supporting older app versions for security and compatibility reasons; you may need to update to keep using the app;
  • our handling of your data in the app is described in our Privacy Policy and mirrors what we declare in the Google Play Data safety section.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Services at any time and can delete your account from Settings or by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate your access, remove content, or limit features if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or our Community Guidelines, if required by law, or to protect users, third parties, or the Services. Where practical and appropriate, we will give you notice and a chance to fix the issue.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, license grants, donations, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution — will survive.

13. Disclaimers

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, GoodAct and our affiliates and licensors disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising out of course of dealing or usage of trade.

We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted, error free, or secure, that defects will be corrected, or that any content posted by users is accurate, lawful, or trustworthy. Donations, fundraisers, and events are run by users — we do not vet, endorse, or guarantee them, and we are not a charity, broker, agent, or fiduciary for any user.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will GoodAct or our affiliates, officers, employees, agents, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Services.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid GoodAct in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) US$100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for gross negligence, fraud, or willful misconduct.

15. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GoodAct and our affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with (a) your use of the Services, (b) Your Content, (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law, or (d) your infringement of any third-party right. We may, at our discretion, assume the exclusive defense of any matter for which you owe indemnification, and you agree to cooperate with our defense.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and GoodAct each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts — except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence give you the right to bring proceedings in your home courts and apply local law.

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer rights, nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of those rights.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Services or by email before the changes take effect, and we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If you continue to use the Services after the changes take effect, you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept the changes, please stop using the Services and delete your account.

18. General terms

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy and any policies referenced in them, are the entire agreement between you and GoodAct about the Services and supersede any prior agreements.
  • No waiver. Our failure to enforce a right or provision is not a waiver of that right or provision.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest will remain in full force.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them, for example in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • No third-party beneficiaries. These Terms do not create rights for anyone other than you and GoodAct.
  • Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
